RIM to Introduce Android And Windows Phone Inspired Features

RIM

Research In Motion (RIM) is now going for a bit of a flexible approach. While earlier the company made it clear that it will not ditch its own BB OS in favor of Googles advanced operating system Android, now its gearing up to integrate some cool features resembling the ones that exist in other platforms. This new strategy has been initiated in order to compete with its archrivals who have already charmed worldwide end users by unveiling groundbreaking, sophisticated, and user friendly devices. Now when the company is going through downturns, time has come to change its strategies, even if that means taking inspiration from other radical platforms owned by its rivals.

Apple undoubtedly is ahead of the pack currently due to its unbeatable, outstanding, and an innovative approach, while Samsung appears to be next in the league because it made hay while the sun shone. It appears that luck favored Samsung as it utilized the full potential of Googles dynamic OS Android. The problem with RIM was that despite the ongoing major technological changes, RIM preferred to stick with its own OS.

Now when BB 10 smartphones release date is approaching, RIM is doing everything in its power to ensure that the upcoming phones turn out to be a smash hit.

We recently got this inkling that forthcoming Blackberry phones will support a new feature of contact management. This feature will be able to extract details of your contacts from leading social networking websites like Facebook and Twitter, on a single Blackberry page. Well, that sounds incredible.

Blackberry 10 will not be limited to extracting contact information from social networking websites; it will also contain information related to enterprise like impending meetings with certain contacts, along with enclosing latest emails.

According to T.A. McCann, this time the focus of RIM is on efficiency. McCann is the leader of a team which is mainly responsible for developing Blackberry 10 apps related to contact management. While having a conversation with Reuters, he suggested that Blackberry inherited productivity, but with BB 10 upcoming devices, RIM is going to act in a smarter and better way. However, an analogous feature of contact management is there on Windows Phone where contact cards inside People hub display updates from social networking websites.

Chances are high that this contact management feature will save Blackberry, as McCann is the former CEO of Gist, and thus possess sufficient knowledge and expertise regarding this domain. RIM acquired Gist way back in 2011. Gist fetched limelight through its CRM app which was capable of extracting updates and feeds from social networking websites to contact emails and pages.

RIM was once known for delivering the best business smartphones, but as people are switching over to iPhones and Androids, RIMs concerns have started to rise. To make matters worse, there is a new concept called Bring-your-own-device, which is catching the attention of corporate professionals. Given the existing scenario, we can say that the coming journey for RIM isnt going to be very easy.
