Add contacts to home screen
You can add your favourite contact on the home screen and just tap to make a call. In order to do that you need to press and hold any empty block on your screen. From the popup menu select Shortcuts > Contacts. Select the contact you want to add.

You can use the voice recognition system to search the web. The Google search application in Android has a microphone icon on the right side of the search box. Press it and talk to search. The accuracy level of recognizing the voice is very good.

The home screen has a sliding bar on top which comes with preloaded shortcuts. By default you will have the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Settings and Flight mode added to it. You can easily manage these applications from this shortcut Menu.

Android offers better security options to users but there are some things which cannot be avoided. Android apps are another tool which can compromise your phone security if installed from unknown sources. Install a good malware protection for better security and stay out of trouble.
Terminate Background Services
You can close apps which are consuming more battery power of your phone. In order to list all running apps go to settings tab and select running services. You will now have all the list of running applications. Terminate any app which is unnecessarily consuming your phone memory.
Tips for Multitasking
Press the Home button for a few seconds and you will have the list of recently closed applications. Toggle between apps for multitasking. You can run as many as 6-7 apps simultaneously without having any problem. Now you can make a call, type in a message and view web browser simultaneously. Now thats what I call multitasking.
Stop Animations for faster performance
You can stop background animated wallpapers to boost the system speed. Though they consume very less memory and requires minimum amount of processing speed, you can get rid of them too. Go to settings > Display and select Animations. Select No animations and press ok. If you want to reactivate them follow the same steps and select all animation to bring them to the default settings.
Drop Box App
Drop Box offers synching your phone contents to the cloud. You can now have all your required documents hosted on drop box and use them whenever you are in need of them. No need to connect to your computer for storing data anymore.
Firefox for Android
There is no doubt about the performance of the default browser. However if you want better browsing speed and integrate add-ons to it you can try the Firefox for Android. It offers tabbed browsing and provides an option to sync all your data with the Firefox browser on your computer.
